Which Indian banks have the most branches?

Why IFSC codes matter

An IFSC code identifies a specific bank branch for NEFT, RTGS and IMPS transfers. The first four characters identify the bank, the fifth is a zero, and the last six identify the branch. Getting one character wrong sends money to the wrong bank — which is why every transfer should be checked against the branch record rather than a code copied from a message.

Method

Counts of IFSC codes by the bank field in the Razorpay IFSC dataset (MIT licence), which mirrors the Reserve Bank of India's published branch list.
